We began by selecting a domain where we saw potential for improvement: simplifying car ownership. To understand user needs, we conducted semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed and analyzed to identify key pain points. These insights informed our design decisions throughout the project.
In the ideation phase, we used brainstorming, sketching, and mindmapping to generate potential solutions to the user problems identified earlier. To explore and communicate these ideas, we created storyboards and scenarios, which helped us better understand how users might interact with our concepts and guided the development of our prototype.
We then began incorporating selected solutions and design elements from our sketches into a Figma prototype.
The prototype went through two iterations, with each version adapted based on user feedback.
Insights from the first iteration led us to shift the design from a mobile app to CarPlay, ensuring a solution better aligned with user needs and context of use.
The final prototype was created in Figma, incorporating design elements from Apple’s CarPlay Human Interface Guidelines.
This ensured the prototype was consistent with platform standards and provided a familiar and intuitive experience for users.
